Stephen Mitchell
Chairman
Mr Mitchell has a Masters Degree in International Economics and Foreign Policy from John Hopkins University in Washington DC. following which he spent 10 years as a natural resources specialist at investment banks and advisory firms in the US and Australia. From 1999-2011 Stephen was Managing Director of Molopo Energy Ltd, an ASX-listed oil and gas company that held assets in Australia, Canada, USA, China, India and South Africa. Under his stewardship, Molopo generated a 10-fold increase shareholder value and expanded its market capitalisation from less than $1 million into an ASX 200 company.
Stephen is Chairman of the Lowell Resources Fund (ASX listed: LRT) and Hydrocarbon Dynamics Limited (ASX: HCD). Stephen is also a partner of Mitchell Peterson Capital Partners, a Melbourne based corporate advisory firm. He is a director of several private companies including Lowell Resources Funds Management Pty. Ltd
John Zetzman
Managing Director
John Zetzman, MBA, has more than forty years of experience in the minerals and energy industries. He has experience in the management of projects in many areas in the USA, Canada, Europe and Africa. As CEO of Foree International, LLC, Mr. Zetzman put together and managed a team of industry professionals to evaluate acquire and operate gas projects in North America, Europe and Africa.
Mr. Zetzman founded Highland Exploration and Production (Pty) Limited of South Africa that was acquired by Molopo Energy Ltd of Melbourne, Australia and is now the first onshore production license granted in South Africa, producing gas and helium. As one of the first to identify the shale gas potential in South Africa Mr. Zetzman submitted the first application for a shale gas exploration license in the Karroo Basin (ahead of Shell, Sasol, Falcon/Chevron), with estimates of 300 Tcf of gas in place. He co-founded and is currently a Director in Motuoane Energy (Pty) Ltd, a South African based gas and helium exploration company.
Mr. Zetzman has helped establish and/or manage numerous Australian-domiciled oil, gas and minerals companies in the USA and Canada. Mr. Zetzman earned a BS in International Trade at Texas Tech University and an MBA with honours from Thunderbird School of Global Management. Mr. Zetzman is a member of The American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG), Independent Petroleum Association of America (IPAA) and the ADAM Energy Forum of Dallas.
David Casey
Director
David has over 30 years experience in the management and evaluation of all aspects of the energy business from exploration and appraisal, initial reservoir characterisation and fairway identification through to drilling, testing and production operations. He has worked on assets in Australia, the US, Canada, China, Europe South America and Africa.
He has held various technical and management positions in Australian listed public companies up to the level of Managing Director and CEO. David has been actively involved in overseeing the start-up, development and sale of successful exploration and production projects where at Eastern Star Gas he oversaw the building of one of New South Wales’ most successful gas companies, growing it from modest beginnings (<$50m) to an ASX200 company, before ultimately being the subject of takeover and a valuation in excess of a billion dollars.
Most recently was Managing Director and CEO at Talon Energy similarly growing its portfolio and market capitalisation from less than $2M to a high of $70M within 12 months.
He is a member of the Australasian Institute of Mining & Metallurgy, the Petroleum Exploration Society of Australia and a lifetime member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers.
Dr. David Hobday
Director
David holds a PhD in Geology from Louisiana State University and worked at the Texas Bureau of Economic Geology before spending time with Sydney Oil Company, Bridge Oil Limited, and serving on the boards of several other listed Australian and overseas companies. He has gained experience in international oil & gas exploration in Argentina, Russia, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, China, India, Namibia, Angola and the Congo Basin. Between 2000 and 2003 David worked with Parsons Energy on project development in Texas. He was the recipient of the Wallace Pratt Memorial Award from the American Association of Petroleum Geologists for “significant contributions to petroleum geology”. David has also worked in corporate finance and funds management. He was a director of Molopo Energy and a director of Lowell Resources Fund Management.
